In March 2014 we opened a science-themed bar in Yotsuya, Tokyo. Twelve years on, we still run a place where researchers and everyone else sit at the same counter. We host a microscopy photography competition, take a pop-up bar to academic receptions, and invite researchers to talk to a general audience. The formats change; the work does not.

About the company
Founded in Tokyo in March 2014, ScienceBar INCUBATOR turns science into a social drinking experience. Beyond serving cocktails and food in laboratory glassware, the bar has hosted its public research-talk series, Science Live, through Vol. 45, creating a place where researchers and non-specialists can meet and talk over drinks.
ScienceBar INCUBATOR has been featured by NHK, Time Out Tokyo, Tokyo Cheapo, Japan Experience and other Japanese and international travel media. As of July 27, 2026, it holds a 4.8/5 rating on Tripadvisor with 69 reviews and is listed at No. 111 among 8,933 restaurants in Shinjuku.
In 2025, the bar launched and hosted MicroArt 2025, a microscopy photography competition. In 2026, it introduced smartphone ordering in ten languages, continuing its mission to make science approachable across cultures.
